To successfully age in place, our home must be accessible, safe, and well-maintained. Maintenance includes ongoing upkeep (e.g. staining the deck) and capital improvements (e.g. a new roof). Too often seniors defer maintenance on their homes. This causes deterioration and results in loss of equity, meaning less funds to put toward future expenses, like the cost of long-term care.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
• Recognize the most common causes of deterioration in the home
• Create and execute a home maintenance plan
• Develop and manage a capital improvement plan
• Select the most qualified/cost-effective contractors
• Manage maintenance and home improvement projects to successful completion
